Paige selected for netball academy

Paige Brown (pictured) has been selected for the Bendigo Academy of Sport Netball Program.

Paige was initially invited to the trials in July, and was selected based on her efforts to represent the Deniliquin Netball Association in the Under 15s Representative Team.

The Bendigo Academy of Sport is one of the seven academies across Victoria, and is recognised as part of the official Netball Victoria Pathway.

It provides development opportunities of netballers transition into the Netball Victoria Talent Academy.

The program consists of eight sessions focusing on fitness testing, strength and conditioning programs, on court training sessions and education sessions of health and wellbeing.

‘‘My goal is to follow in the footsteps of my sister Chloe, who also trained at the Bendigo Academy and is now in her second year of the Victorian Talent Academy,’’ Paige said.

‘‘I am very excited for this opportunity.’’

Paige joins local netballers Annie Harvey, Kate

Westcott and Phoebe Jefferies, who are in their second year of the program.

Over the next several months, the academy will aim to prepare the girls for the Northern Zone Under 17s Talent Academy trials, which are scheduled for November this year.
