‘‘Australia Day provides a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge those individuals who volunteer so much of their time to ensure community services, initiatives and other important activities continue to prosper across our council area,’’ Murray River Council Mayor Chris Bilkey said.

‘‘It’s also a great platform to recognise individuals and groups who have made achievements in a range of pursuits including sports and the arts.’’

Nominations are currently being accepted in the following award categories: Citizen of the Year

Young Citizen of the Year Sportsperson of the Year

Young Sportsperson of the Year Community Event of the Year Community Group of the Year Arts/Cultural Award (person or group). Nominations can be completed via council’s Your Say platform by November 5 — www.yoursay.murrayriver.nsw.gov.au.

‘‘Don’t be shy, if there is someone in your community or group that deserves a nomination, I encourage you to nominate them today,’’ Cr Bilkey said.
