Pile burn creates smoke alarm

-

The NSW Rural Fire Service Mid Murray Zone is reminding people of the need to notify the service and neighbours of any planned burns.

It comes after Mathoura firefighters were called to a pile burn in Mathoura about 9.08am on Sunday, which blanketed the immediate area in smoke.

Mid Murray Inspector Doug Adamson said while permits are not required yet, all burns must be registered.

‘‘Notifying us of your planned burn can help reduce unnecessary emergency calls. You also need to let your neighbours know at least one day ahead,’’ he said.

To register a burn, go to www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/ BFDP/burn-notifications or use the QR code on page 5 of today’s edition.
