Deniliquin Pastoral Times

Fun, friendship and fellowship

Deniliquin Probus Club was formed March 12, 1986. The Probus Club movement was instigated by Rotary. Probus Clubs are governed by Probus South Pacific which covers clubs in Australia and New Zealand and has more than 100,000 members.

Probus provides you with the opportunity to join together through social activities for retirees and semi-retirees in our communities. The benefits of socialising are well documented and have proven to have a positive affect both physically and mentally, particularly in the mature generation.

Over the years our members have had many trips around Australia, Norfolk Island and New Zealand, enjoyed live shows in Melbourne, Bendigo and other places and have listened to an extensive range of topics from guest speakers. In addition members often join with Echuca clubs for outings and trips.

Our main meeting day is the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Deniliquin RSL Club for lunch and usually to hear a guest speaker. On the second Tuesday we run many and varied activities at different venues. In October we hope to have a bus trip to Jerilderie on the second Tuesday and on the fourth, the Deniliquin South School choir plan to come and perform for us.

Our annual membership fee is $20 payable at the AGM in March. This covers insurance and Probus South Pacific membership. We welcome new members and if interested in joining the Deniliquin Probus Club the contacts are President John Thompson on 03 5881 1107 or Maureen Fitzmaurice on 03 5881 1268.

For more information about joining the Deniliquin Probus Club contact club President, John Thompson on 03 5881 1107. All welcome.
