Council news and updates from the mayor

-

the Victorian and NSW Governments’ road maps to covid-normal life.

Their messaging is clear, life will not be normal unless we get vaccinated.

This means potentially, Edward River Council residents who are not vaccinated may have less freedoms than those who have been.

Going to the pub, traveling to Melbourne, having family and friends around. All these sorts of things may be compromised if we don’t get vaccinated before the states reach their targets of 70 and 80%.

I encourage all eligible residents to ensure we’re not left behind and to please discuss any concerns with their GP.

I am fully vaccinated with Astra Zeneca. I got advice from my doctor and rolled up my sleeve - for my own health as well as for my community’s.

Works update

Now that we’re back in the border bubble, Council projects such as the Town Hall and Estates building are back on track.

It is a great relief to see the Poictiers Street resealing and guttering work nearing completion too and I’d like to thank residents there for their patience.

If you drive past the North Deni Tennis Courts you will see work is progressing quickly there with the carpark work going full steam ahead.

With new facilities planned, the rest stop really will be a lovely addition to the town and encourage travellers to stop in Deni.

The Waring Gardens fence and footpath work is also nearing completion and Kelly Street improvements are also scheduled to be completed next week, weather permitting.

Scotts Park Safety

I was very concerned to learn about safety concerns at the Rocket Park recently.

I have asked Council staff to install new signage and two gates in order to keep our kids safe.

We always welcome feedback and suggestions such as this one and wherever possible will act accordingly.

“I cannot stress enough how important it is for people to get vaccinated – if you have not had both doses of the vaccine by the time we hit the 70% milestone, you will not be able to take advantage of these freedoms,” Ms Berejiklian said.

Stay safe

Norm Brennan, Mayor.
