Airport land sale interest being sought

Business expansion, job creation and overall economic development.

Those are the aims of Edward River Council as it progresses a plan to sell off land at Deniliquin Airport.

‘‘When we identified this land as being surplus to council requirements, we wanted to ensure its sale would provide opportunities for our residents by way of encouraging growth and development in our region,’’ Mayor Norm Brennan said.

At its August meeting, council determined that parts of lot 52 at the Deniliquin Airport precinct were surplus to council requirements, and approved the sale of this land.

The lots are currently vacant and zoned industrial.

‘‘They’re considered high value blocks due to their location, with excellent exposure to passing traffic and close to arterial roads including the Cobb Highway,’’ Cr Brennan said.

‘‘It is our hope the land could be used for a wide range of industrial and warehouse land uses that would create employment opportunities.’’

Cr Brennan said as the land is part of the Deniliquin Airport precinct, council will undertake a subdivision to create new land parcels.

All services will be provided, including access to public roads, water supply connection point, sewerage connection point and with electricity and telecommunications services available.

The blocks will be accessible from the Saleyards Rd, Macknight Drive and newly created roads as part of the subdivision.

Expressions of interest are now being invited, and open for a period of four weeks.
