Jill and Peter win fourball
Jill Jeffrey and Peter Winchcomb combined to win the fourball best ball stableford event on Saturday.
They scored 47 points to have a one shot margin over Felicity McCalman and Poppy Lawrence who took runner-up honours on countback to Ross Burnham and Ian Fuller.
Fourballs have been popular in the last couple of weeks, and it was also the format for the ladies last Thursday. Winners were Jane Armytage and Rae Lawrence with 48 points, from Annette Danckert and Vicki Barnes on 45.
Only a small field ventured out on Sunday for the stableford event and it was won by John Wacheke scoring 36 points, by a shot to John Henderson.
Likewise there was a smaller field than usual on Wednesday, with inclement weather keeping many away. It didn’t stop Anthony Erickson escaping from the shop to post an impressive 42 points, which was five clear of runner-up Josh Hunt on 37.
There is an abundance of golf coming up in the next couple of weeks, including some very popular events.
It starts tomorrow with the Deni Car Care Monthly Medal.
On Sunday we have the Can Assist charity day which is a four person ambrose with 11.30 assembly for 12 noon shotgun start. A barbecue is included in the $35 entry fee.
Next Saturday, October 9, is the coveted Borella Cup.
Then, from Monday October 11 the veterans will gather for their Veteran’s Week of Golf.
Also coming up is the Summer Sixers. Start getting your teams organised, because the competition will kick off in the next couple of weeks.
The next of our charity days is for Navorina, which is Sunday October 17. Again, it is a four person ambrose with 11.30 assembly for 12 noon shotgun start.
Friday Night Fun has resumed after a COVID enforced break, so why not join in the action and perhaps take home a meat tray or win a club voucher. Raffle tickets are sold by the handsome crew from 6pm with draws at 7.30. Meals are available; bookings preferred.
