Season delays

Twilight, and junior comps pushed back one week

- The Deniliquin Lawn Tennis Club’s Twilight Tennis competition which was due to start next week has been postponed.

The club now hopes to get the season going from Wednesday, October 20.

Following a committee meeting, club president Clive Gow announced that the new start date would leave time for the club to ensure it is in full compliance with the COVID-19 rules.

‘‘New rules will apply from Monday, and we want to know how they effect this competition,’’ he said.

Gow said there is still time to register for the pending season.

‘‘Nominations have been more than pleasing, with a lot of new players nominating,’’ he said.

‘‘We need to catch up with all the previous competition players and see if they want to sign up for this comp, which has its final before Christmas.

‘‘Nominations will close tomorrow (Saturday) and the grading and team selection prepared over the weekend.

‘‘Players can nominate by ringing John Henderson on 0427 814 947, or email your name to denitennisclub@gmail.com.

The Deniliquin Junior Lawn Tennis Club’s season has also been delayed by a week and is now expected to start October 16.
