Big Nav golf day

-

Sunday’s Navorina Golf Day Fundraiser was a big success — raising more than $3000 for the community facility, and attracting 104 players.

The day was hosted at Deniliquin Golf Club on Sunday, from 11.30am.

Navorina Auxiliary president Shirley Willis said the group was very pleased with the turnout.

‘‘It was (quite successful), considering COVID, and it was a lovely group,’’ she said.

‘‘We were very pleased and it was a successful day.’’

The auxiliary collected entry fees and sold raffle tickets to raise money for Navorina Nursing Home.

The four person ambrose event provided prizes for winners and runners-up, with balls for nearest to the pin on all par three courses.

Results from the golf day will be included in Friday’s Off The Tee column.

The questionable weather Deniliquin has been experiencing late last week cleared up to reveal a beautiful day on Sunday — perfect for teeing off in the name of charity.

Golfers of all ages and abilities took to the Deniliquin Golf Club course on the day, to play in the Navorina Charity Golf Day.

Proceeds from the four person ambrose event are donated to support the Deniliquin-based nursing home, which is in the midst of a $1 million fundraising campaign to fund improvements to the facility.

More than 100 golfers took part, while abiding by COVID-19 regulations.
