Junior tennis results:

After another crazy year and some delays, the junior tennis season started last week.

The kids were so excited to play some match play tennis even if it was a little windy.

Thanks so much for the tennis captains that helped out all morning, Victoria Gatacre and Edwina Knox, and Peter Rae and Rob Wettenhall who also ran the kids through an amazing warm up full of drills and a ball machine.

The first match between JC Earthworks and Murray Constructions was a close battle and had some great matches.

Arabella Bliss played as a number one for the first time, and had a day out winning all three sets and leading her team to victory.

The other great tussle was between the Rae brothers, with Toby eventually getting the upper hand winning two sets to Angus’ one.

The other match was a bit one sided unfortunately, with CWS having some players away.

Fred Peat, in his first year playing in Deni, and James Gatacre both won three sets to lead their team to a big victory. Special mentions to Ollie Murray and William Frost for winning two solid sets each.

Hotshots will return tomorrow due to the easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

Anyone who is still interested in playing can come down on the morning. The Red and Orange ball groups will be from 9am to 10am, and the Green ball group will be from 10am to 11am.

All spectators and parents over the age of 16 need to be double vaccinated to enter the tennis courts.
