With more than 1600 ideas submitted during recent community consultation activities, we have now released our draft Community Strategic Plan (CSP) for public comment. Over the next few weeks, you, our community, will have the opportunity to review and provide feedback on the plan, after which time we will review the comments and provide a finalised version of the CSP.

We’d like to thank everyone who recently attended our face-to-face meetings or submitted suggestions online; this engagement is a critical step in the process to ensure we are capturing what it is the community actually wants to see. The CSP is a community document and should reflect our residents’ goals and aspirations for the council area as a place to live, work and play. We now just want to make sure we didn’t miss anything and that the draft CSP matches, at a high level, what the community thinks. So please, take a look! Council’s Delivery Program and Operational Plan will also be available for viewing in the coming month, and it is within these documents that community members will begin to see their ideas and suggestions start to come to life. You can take a look at our draft CSP via our Your Say platform until 19 April.

Last week we hit the road and took our Council meeting to Moulamein. This was the first of our travelling meetings this year and it was great to see some local faces turn up and say hello. Visiting other locations gives our community the opportunity to attend our meetings and see what goes on. It’s also a great chance for residents to attend the informal catch-up sessions prior to the meeting to chat with councillors and staff over lunch.

If you love the idea of travelling meetings, be sure to let us know as it’s a great way to personally engage with residents from all corners of our council.

The next touring meetings will be in Barham on May 24 and Mathoura on August 23. Stay tuned for more details.
