Limited yarding run

It was another limited yarding at Deniliquin on Tuesday, of both lambs and sheep.

The majority of lambs were under 28kg carcase weight (cwt) and in varied condition.

Not all the regular buyers attended and demand was selective, with plainer and small pen lots treated harshly at times, particularly those in longer dry skins. The market recorded cheaper trends compared to a fortnight ago, however carcass price estimates were within the range of recent markets at 720c to 780c/kg cwt for most crossbred lambs. The lead run of heavy lambs sold from $190 to a top of $214/head.

The general run of trade weights were $168 to $194/head. The Merino and Dorper lambs in this yarding tended to be plainer types or in small pen lots.

Light lambs were mostly $104 to $134, with very small or secondary types down to $45/head.

The sheep market lacked buying depth, particularly on the heavy mutton which nearly all sold to one export order at cheaper levels.
