Five wins, a loss and a draw

A grade — Deni Rams 50 def Barooga 44.

The Rams A grade team has their sights set on a top four position in 2022 and boasts the ideal balance of both experience and youth.

The round one clash against an impressive Barooga side followed a solid pre-season from the Rams girls, which proved just enough to get the job done.

The entire team seemed composed for the four quarters, even though Barooga were within striking distance on the score board for the entire game.

Playing Coach Rhiannan Maxwell was certainly happy with the win, but with a tight result she assured the girls that there will be plenty to work on at training.

Best on court was awarded to young and upcoming defensive midcourter, Annie Harvey, for her athleticis­m and poise.

Fellow young gun, Hannah Ford — in her first year of senior netball — absorbed every direction from her team mates and worked tirelessly in a solid defensive display. She claimed the Total Bliss award.

Club legend Bec Biggs was able to direct the attacking end of the court and was strong and accurate in her feeding and goaling, and received the Globe Hotel award.

B grade — Rams 31 def Barooga 25.

It was a great first game of the season for B grade.

They put into practice all the things they’ve been working on at training and made great improvemen­t in the way they brought the ball down the court, and showed great drive up the court.

In her first senior game, Macie Free showed her strong drive and ability to put relentless pressure on her opponent.

New Rams recruit Keeley Coates moved well in the ring and showed great patience resulting with beautiful shooting accuracy.

Sam Hughes also showed great drive and patience in and around the ring, in what was also her first senior game.

C grade — Deni Rams 46 lost to Barooga 47.

C reserve — Deni Rams 43 drew Barooga 43.

With a new side for the season, Rams worked into the quarters, becoming more comfortabl­e with passes and movement.

The team worked the ball well in the ring, and the the passes were spot on.

Defence put pressure on the passes in the goal ring.

Under 17s — Deni Rams 54 def Barooga 26.

The girls had a strong start to the season with a win.

Mia and Emma Parks combined well in the midcourt and worked hard to chase up all lose balls.

Hannah Hetheringt­on had a strong first game with the Rams working hard in defence all game.

In the third quarter the girls stepped it up with everyone working hard to bring the ball down the court and shooter converting at every opportunit­y.

Under 15s — Deni Rams 23 defeated Barooga 15.

The under 15s kicked off the 2022 season with an eight goal win over Barooga.

There was great combining and accuracy by Sophie Tilders, and Shontai O’Callaghan in attack, created an early lead.

Barooga put the pressure on in the last half but the girls all worked hard to maintain the early lead.

Ava Richards was strong in defence and assisted creating many turnovers.

Under 13s — Deni Rams 34 def Barooga 4.

What an amazing start for the Rams under 13s.

They were impressive from the very first whistle. It was so great to see the girls come together as a team for the first time.

The girls should be so proud of themselves after their first game. It’s an exciting start to the season.

Under 11s: Not scored.

Captained by Bella Muldoon, the girls played an exceptiona­l game as if they had been playing together before. With five new recruits, the goals, intercepts and flow down the court was unbelievab­le.
