Three local top towns

Three Murray River Council towns have been named finalists in the 2022 Top Tourism Town Awards for NSW.

Moulamein, Moama and Barham all made it on to the prestigious list, and there’s one week left to vote for your favourite!

An initiative of the NSW Tourism Industry Council and Business NSW, the awards recognise regional tourism towns across NSW delivering “amazing visitor experiences” and are committed to growing visitation to their destination.

Mayor Chris Bilkey said the awards are an exciting platform to showcase local attractions and unique visitor experiences.

“The awards are about highlighting our towns’ amazing visitor experiences and showcasing the collaborative efforts of tourism operators, businesses, and the local community to drive the visitor economy,” he said.

“It’s a credit to our local operators in these towns that we have been named finalists.

“I would encourage locals to throw their support behind them and jump online today and vote while there is still time!”

Voting is restricted to one town per category.

Moulamein is in the population under 1500 category, Barham is in the population under 5000 category and Moama is in the population over 5000 section.

While there is only a short voting period, those who do vote will be in with the chance to win tickets to the 2022 Moama Lights event.

There are five double adult passes and five family passes up for grabs.

Voting closes Wednesday, April 27 at 5pm. One top town winner from each category will be announced at the Local Government NSW Destination & Visitor Economy Conference from May 17 to 19.
