Tough round for Rovers

A-grade: Deni Rovers 15 def by Tungamah 60.

Deniliquin Rovers A-grade side had a tough game against well-oiled Tungamah at the weekend.

It was an energetic and strong start to the game, with the teams going goal for goal in the first quarter.

Tungamah made a few positional changes and began to control the play in the second quarter.

Tireless work by defenders Abbey Wills and Montana Jones saw many rebounds and turnovers.

Matilda Glowrey gave her all in her new position of Wing Attack.

B-grade: Deni Rovers 47 def Tungamah 22.

Rovers B-grade side took home a fantastic win against top eight side Tungamah on Saturday.

Ring defence of Jemma Keast and Nat Sampson stood tall with rebounds and intercepts off the charts.

The movement through the centre flowed well to shooters, Carissa Bulmer and Simone Lumbar.

Although they started slow, by the end of the first quarter teamwork clicked in, which saw the girls moving ahead each quarter. Well done.

C-grade: Deni Rovers 27 def Tungamah 20.

It was a tough game for the Rovers’ C-grade side at the weekend, but they were able to bring home a win against Tungamah.

Great defensive game with Alicia Collison and Jemmah Conallin providing countless turnovers for the side.

C-reserve: Deni Rovers 32 def Tungamah 26.

Another tough game for Rovers C Res side on Saturday.

The girls fought hard and came out on top in the end.

The consistent defensive game created many turnovers for the side.

Sami Davis provided well needed height in both ends of the court, with Ellissa Boyer creating a flow through the midcourt.

Under-17s: Deni Rovers 54 def Tungamah 14.

Saturday’s game saw a convincing win from Deni’s under-17s side.

There was good defensive pressure all over the court, with countless intercepts converted into goals by our dynamic shooting combinatio­n.

Midcourt again worked tirelessly feeding to the shooters.

Awards: Keet’s Hair - Jemma Smith; Josh’s Bakehouse - Abby Whitehorn; Subway - Abbie Blake; Subway - Makayla Finn.

Under-15s: Deni Rovers 24 def Tungamah 12.

Another great win for the under-15s side. The team improved as the game went on, including our new recruit Mikayla Brown, who played her part in turning the ball over and bringing the ball down the court beautifull­y.

Other outstandin­g players included, Kate Jenkins feeding the ball to the shooters, Chloe Macknight moving well and capitalisi­ng on turnovers and Paige Brown who was outstandin­g in defence.

Under-13s: Deni Rovers 23 def Tungamah 13.

A hard fought game with the girls taking advantage of every opportunit­y.

Sienna Elphick was strong in the centre all game applying pressure and creating turnovers.

The girls led well and passed into space. Awards: Aria & Harper - Zarly Horne; Subway - Emily Harvey; Subway - Sienna Elphick; McDonald’s - Amy Holloway.

Under-11s: Not scored.

The girls worked as a team throughout the game showing great passages of play, strong centre drives, a solid defence and a variety of capable shooters.
