Fourths in convincing battle against Strathy

The Deniliquin Rovers under17s fought hard against top three side Strathmert­on at the weekend.

The side had a strong first half, but unfortunat­ely Strathy won the game in the second.

The thirds team is still struggling for numbers and welcome anyone 14 to 17 years old to come along for a run.

Just turn up to training on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a 5pm start at Memorial Park or give coach Chris Maher 0438 587 368 a call if you have any queries.

The young Deni Rovers fourths side took on Strathmert­on this round playing at Memorial Park.

In the first quarter there were no goals kicked by either side with a strong contest by both teams, but

Rovers did put on three behinds.

In the second quarter, Rovers hit the score board and started to move the ball around a lot better.

Goals started to flow, and Rovers had a convincing win beating second on the ladder Strathy.

Best players: Baxter Cowley, Dexter Hardman, Ethan Connolly, Jerrah Caruso, Coby Bysouth and Jesse Jervis.

The youngest Rovers played a very good game against Strathmert­on on Saturday.

The score, while not officially recorded, was very even, with Rovers having a very big second half and playing like a team which they have been working on at training.
