Get ready for a big schedule of golfing events

The 2022 Central IGA Deniliquin Men’s Open will be played this Sunday, May 15.

This is a drawn event with 9.30am assembly for 10am shotgun start. There will be scratch and handicap events, as well as a daily medley competitio­n. The $35 entry fee includes a two-course lunch.

Golfers are encouraged to put their name on the list in the pro shop for this event.

Today is the annual Corporate Golf Day. Good luck to all players; it is sure to be another great day for the club.

Last Thursday was the ladies’ monthly medal and the best score was recorded by A-grade winner Lyn O’Brien with net 68, from runner-up Carol Hardman 71.

B-grade winner was Rae Lawrence net 72 from Prue Grant 74.

The men’s monthly medal on Saturday was won by David ‘Digger’ Ring with net 69 on countback to Robert Campbell.

Ring also won A-grade from runner-up Chris Thomson 71; B-grade winner was Jen Choice 68 from runner-up Hugh Sutton 74, and C-grade Rob Campbell from runner-up Lindy Begg net 71.

On Wednesday the A-grade winner was Leigh Chappell with 39 on countback to Josh Hunt, and in B-grade Albert Liebenberg had 39 from runner-up Anthony Erickson 37.

This busy weekend with events today, tomorrow and Sunday will be followed by the usuals next week, with ladies nine holes on Tuesday, men’s stableford on Wednesday and the ladies will play fourball best ball multiplier on Thursday.

Next Saturday is a stableford event and qualifying round for the Falkiner Singles Knockout.

Also on next weekend is the Western Riverina District Golf Associatio­n championsh­ips at Murray Downs on May 21 and 22.
