Huge success for bra fundraiser

-

A whopping $6676.20 was raised at the Mathoura Bra Fence charity evening on Saturday night.

Organisers said they were blown away with the support from the community.

They thanked everyone involved for donating, buying raffle tickets, bidding on the silent auctions and the live auctions, sending messages of encouragement and attending on the night.

All funds raised will go towards helping cover the travel costs of local cancer sufferers for appointments or treatment.

Southern 80 success

After being rescheduled from its original February date, the Southern 80 took place over the weekend from Friday, May 13 to Sunday, May 15.

While it was a little more chilly at this time of year, the organisers said the event was a great success and thanked all volunteers, competitors and spectators.

Deniliquin Boat Club ski instructors Bryce and Kane Horne and Deniliquin farmer Ben Evans competed.

Results to come in Friday’s edition.

Another Mathoura fundraising success

After setting a goal of $700, Mathoura seniors football assistant coach Nick Ferrari has shaved off his hair for the World’s Greatest Shave and raised a massive $6475 in the process.

In a video posted to Facebook earlier this month Ferrari outlined his wish to

“shave off this mop”, which he had been growing for a while to support the Leukaemia Foundation.

Ferrari along with a number of club members and players also went bald for the cause on Saturday night.

Sun is out

After a number of rainy days, it seems as though the sun has made a return this week.

While there are still some lingering clouds, it is the perfect time to get out and soak up some sun while we still can.

Take a walk through our beautiful gardens and finally get some clothes dried out on the line.

But don’t get too comfortable with the reasonably warm weather, we are heading into some pretty cold mornings and evenings, with temperatures falling to 3 and 4 degrees on Thursday and Friday this week.
