Finding his feet

The Photo Fixer Chris George says

While the location and lighting are crucial for getting great landscape images, you can still create striking images when the conditions are less than ideal. This is the time to experiment with different techniques and compositions and find new ways to see the landscape.

As the day went on, Steve found it easier to see the different options at each location, and produced some great shots. He was also happy to try different settings to create different effects, such as turning day into night when shooting into the light. He became more confident at choosing compositions to make the most of the location.

Reader Steve Lewis says

After a long, humid and sunny day, I arrived home feeling more self-assured and extremely pleased with what I’d learned throughout the day. Turning a boring blue sky into a monochrome version of the picture makes it much more pleasant and interesting to look at. Chris provided me with a hands-on insight into the different elements to look for in a landscape shot, and how to work with what is presented in front of you in any given environment and weather conditions.

The invaluable knowledge I have gained in using my camera to its full potential will aid me in my quest to be more thoughtful from here on in.
