PHONE PRINTS I have lots of images I’ve taken with my iPhone and to date I’ve never printed any. I was wondering if you thought the quality would be good enough?

Like you, Kate, I shoot lots with my iPhone, but had never bothered to print any, so the only way to answer your question was to get testing! As a result, the short answer to your question is, yes, they are definitely good enough. I have an iPhone 5, so my opinions are based on this model, but I’m impressed by the quality of the prints.

To do my test I took some of the shots already stored in my phone and processed them using the Snapseed app to get the look I wanted. With that done I simply emailed myself the images at their highest-quality settings and opened them in Photoshop. Without doing any additional sharpening or adjustments I first printed at borderless A4 on my Canon Pro-10 printer. After that I tried a couple at A3 and even these were good enough for hanging on the wall.

However, what I would say is that getting good results relies on two things. First, the image itself has to be good enough in the first place. If it’s not sharp or was taken in poor light, then there’s a risk of the finished print displaying quite a lot of noise. The second thing is that your printer needs to be good-quality too.
