White Wall
You’ll be spoiled for choice
Serving up a veritable feast of photo-finish options, WhiteWall offers acrylic, aluminium, framed products, canvases, photo prints, fine-art prints and more besides. There’s a similarly enormous range of some 24,000 library shots and artworks to choose from, as well as the more normal business of uploading your own images.
In contrast to Loxley Colour, the broad choice extends to paper types for regular photo prints. Here you can choose between lambda prints on Fujicolor Crystal Archive DP II, or lightjet prints on Kodak Endura, Kodak Endura Metallic, Fujiflex High Gloss, Ilford B&W papers or old-school Baryta paper.
Naturally, it’s difficult to gauge the relative merits of different papers and processes by viewing examples on your computer screen, but WhiteWall’s website does a very good job of explaining the differences in textual information. A free product sample pack (with a £3.95 postage charge) is also available. Moreover, a similarly wide array of ICC profiles is available on the site for free download, to add confidence in the fidelity of results, whichever media you opt for.
Performance
Delivery takes up to eight working days – but this is mainly because, despite the UK-based ordering system, WhiteWall’s photo prints are actually created in Germany. Even so, delivery charges are reasonable, starting at £3.95, and the quality and robustness of packaging is excellent.
Print quality is superb on the whole, but WhiteWall works out as an expensive option for small and medium-sized prints of less than 24 x 16 inches.
