Polarise up
As David’s ably demonstrated, a polariser can extend exposure times considerably when used in combination with a strong ND. For the strongest polarisation effect, you need to shoot at 90 degrees to the sun. Rotate the front of the polariser in the direction that you’d tighten the filter so that you don’t inadvertently loosen it – and watch out for uneven darkening with wide lenses.
