To tripod or not?
Although a tripod is essential for long-exposure work, when there’s plenty of light you can get sharp handheld shots with moderate apertures and a tautly pulled camera strap. We’d suggest not setting up a tripod until you’ve found the shot anyway; otherwise it’s easy to stay rooted to the spot.
