The sense of scale in this sparsely composed scene is awe-inspiring. The lone figure standing on her paddle board adds a powerful human presence, especially as she holds her paddle up in a gesture of defiance against the impending storm. The strong sun and glints of sunlight licking the water in the foreground provide a wonderful contrast to the imminent and imposing doom of the dark clouds.
