RAID vs backups

A RAID system like this does not replace regular backups. It does protect against hard disk failure, but not against the many other possible causes of data loss, including fire or theft, for example. You still need to keep regular backups and make sure these are stored in a different location. Your backup drive could be another Drobo or a regular single hard disk, though these could prove hard to find in a high enough capacity.
