Shoot like a pro
Producing a minimal image is all about reducing the number of elements in the composition and using the right camera settings. To reduce the detail in the water, a three-stop plain neutral-density filter was used. This allowed a slower shutter speed to be used to blur the movement of the small waves, making the foreground appear smoother and less distracting than the effect of using a faster shutter speed. The mood was also enhanced by using a two-stop ND grad to darken the sky.
