Tilt or fixed?

I’m looking at buying either the Nikon D5300 or the D3400. One has a vari-angle screen, the other is fixed. How useful would the screen be? Joe Berridge I wish all cameras came with vari-angle LCD screens, but they don’t. You can get the D3400 and a standard lens for the cost of the D5300 body-only, so that might be a factor. But I do think being able to tilt the LCD when using Live View to see the screen from different angles such as high up or low down is very useful for both stills photography and video.
