To tie in with our brand-new look we’re launching a brand-new Facebook shooting challenge! The idea is to test your creativity and technical ability – but most of all, it’s about getting out there and having a bit of fun.

The theme this month is ‘Reflections’, which you can approach however you like. It might be that you want to head into the city to shoot towering skyscrapers; if that doesn’t take your fancy, the rural environment and capturing calm lakes may appeal more. We’ll leave this creative thinking up to you.

When you shoot reflections, there are a couple of technical considerations to take into account. First, if you shoot in bright light there can be lots of glare, so you may want to use a polariser to stop this problem from happening.

You also want to carefully consider the composition of your frame, and think about how the subject is being represented. Do you want to go for a completely abstract approach, or do you want to include the original source? However you approach it, just make sure it says ‘Reflections’!
