Exposure settings

The key to balancing flash with ambient light is that the flash strength is governed by aperture, not shutter speed. Choose the aperture you want to shoot at, then set the flash power to provide the right amount of light for that aperture setting. You can then adjust the shutter speed up or down to achieve the right exposure.
