Do’s and Don’ts Autofocus

Autofocus can be swift and accurate – but it can also do with a helping hand

Digital Camera World - - CAMERA COLLEGE -

DO Try to prefocus

Pre-focusing the lens at a distance near the subject of your photo can slash the amount of time it takes the camera to autofocus.

DON’T Miss the point

You’ll need to keep the active AF points over a moving subject in order to keep them in focus. Get some practice in!

DO Limit the distance

Some lenses have a focus distance switch that allows you to limit the focusing range, and this can speed up focus acquisition.

DON’T Forget the drive mode

If you’re photographing action, set the drive mode as well as autofocus to continuous, to enable you to shoot sequences of shots.
