The bright, blue-sky day posed some challenges when it came to exposure, as the contrast between dark and bright areas was very high. Switching to Manual mode and underexposing pictures added drama, with shadows becoming strong graphical elements rather than ‘the enemy’. Fitting lens hoods shielded the front elements and prevented flare from reducing the contrast.
