Protect tones

This checkbox protects tones by preventing you from clipping pixels to pure black or pure white. It’s like a safety net for your dodging and burning if you want to preserve details. On the other hand, there are times when you might want to intentionally clip details, perhaps to dodge a high-key backdrop to make it perfectly white – if that’s the case, untick the box and set the Dodge Tool Range to Highlights.
