Funningur, Eysturoy, Faroe Islands

After a windy sunrise on the Funningur cliff, I hiked down to the car and followed the mountain road towards village of Eiði. Right below the car park, I had to stop: I just couldn’t resist this magnificent vista. The sun was shining, with fantastic morning light on surrounding hills. You can see the gorgeous village of Funningur; legend has it that Grímur Kamban, the first Viking settler on the Faroe Islands, settled right here.
