Charlie reveals his favourite images

I love this shot of a kingfisher. This was on a particularly murky day with really flat light, so getting such a bold, punchy, colour palette from the kingfisher’s plumage was a delight in post-processing! The exposure was 1/1,250 sec at f/6.3, ISO 2,000; focal length 400mm.

This photo reminds me of the scene in OliverTwist, with the squirrel saying, “Please sir, I want some more nuts.” This one was shot in the garden, hanging out of the window with my camera one evening. The exposure was 1/250 sec at f/6.3, ISO 4,000; focal length 400mm.

I found myself laying on the ground, surrounded by horse muck and using my elbows as a tripod to take this shot on my 70-200mm. I love the horse’s expression and how it is unimpressed by my nonsense while still posing for the camera. An absolute diva.

I love a good cow picture: their expressions and their want to pose for the camera are second to none. To get a shallow depth of field here, the photo was shot at f/2.8. I particularly enjoy the separation created in the contrast of the burnt oranges and greens.
