Raw for sure

-

Q My Canon EOS 6D can capture different sizes of raw file. Which one should I be using? Trevor Leicester

A I’d always suggest that you shoot the largest raw option available. Raw M (medium) and S (small) give you the same depth of tonal information for postproduction control, but less resolution.

Unless you need to save space on a nearly-full memory card because you can’t delete anything but want to keep shooting raw, there is no real benefit to choosing one of the cut-sized raw options. It is better to shoot at the highest resolution possible, then reduce the file size later in processing to suit your needs.

?? ?? You can reduce the size of the raw files you shoot, but you probably shouldn’t.
