PRO TIP TRAVEL LIGHT
Having all of your camera kit with you at all times is more of a hindrance than a help. Carrying a heavy backpack is tiring if you’re walking around a humid Caribbean city all day. Less gear makes it easier to move quickly, weaving in and out of a crowd. It also makes you less conspicuous: too much expensive kit makes you stand out for the wrong reasons.
I take a backpack loaded with equipment for each assignment. But once I’m in a country, I plan ahead for every day or situation, and only take what I need. If you’re not spending time on landscapes, for example, you can live without a tripod.
