6 CREATE A SENSE OF ADVENTURE

Whether there’s an adrenaline rush or a sense of mystery, adventure travel photos should always be visually exciting

-

No-one travels halfway around the world to be bored. Photos from your adventures should be exciting for other people to look at, evoking some of the same feelings in the viewer that you felt as you explored a place.

Photographing active travel adventures can involve fast-moving subjects, which means tracking, locking in on targets and working with fast shutter speeds. At other times, it’s about creating a mood or sense of adventure by showing a physical challenge or tough environmental and weather conditions.

All kinds of creative approaches are available here, from getting up close so that people (like cyclists, kayakers or snowboarders) dominate the picture, to integrating more of the environment and evoking a sense of place.
