Keep the subject sharp within all the blur

Panning the camera at the same speed as a moving subject enables you to keep it in the same position in the frame, so it stays (relatively) sharp while the background becomes blurred. To try this, activate your camera’s servo/continuous autofocus and select an AF point that lines up with the subject’s most important feature.
