Pentax launches the first DSLR of 2021

The K-3 III offers 25.7MP, 101 AF points, 12fps – and ISO up to 1,600,000

-

Introducing the new flagship model of Pentax’s APS-C line-up… the K-3 III may not be cheap, but it’s still within reach of an enthusiast’s budget. Designed to be a rugged and powerful stills DSLR, the K-3 III has a maximum frame rate of 11fps with AFC mode and 12fps with AFS mode; thanks to a new Prime V image processor, it offers a maximum ISO of 1,600,000.

The autofocus system features no fewer than 101 points, 25 of which are the superior cross-type, and is paired with a new 307,000-pixel RGBIr image sensor and image-tracking algorithm for following fast moving and erratic subjects. Up to 5.5 stops of shake compensation is offered by the K-3 III’s IBIS system, while other features include a 1.62mdot resolution fixed rear screen that’s also touchsensitive – a first for a Pentax K-series camera – and dual SD/SDHC/SDXC card slots (although only one of them is UHS-II compatible) .

The K-3 III captures 4K video at up to 30/25p, shot in Live View mode, and uses contrast AF as there’s no on-sensor phase detection. www.ricoh-imaging.eu; £1,899/$1,999 (body only)
