Orton effect

Combine an out-of-focus shot with a sharp one

-

You can create a rough and ready version of the Orton effect, a technique devised by landscape photographer Michael Orton in the 1980s, where he sandwiched an out-of-focus slide of an image with a sharp one to add a mystical glow. You can do the same using your camera’s multiple-exposure function and turning the focus ring between shots to lose the focus.

?? ?? Blurred vision If you defocus the lens while shooting close-up multiple exposures, you might need to reframe.
