Tamron 150-500mm
New optic for Sony E-mount is designed to be compact and usable without any compromises in image quality
Tthe first ultra-telephoto for Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras, Tamron’s 150-500mm f/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD has a compact design, even when shooting at the 500mm telephoto end, which makes handheld shooting practical. Unsurprisingly for a 150-500mm lens, at 1,725kg it’s pretty heavy, but it does come with a tripod collar. Optical construction consists of 25 elements arranged in 16 groups, and includes one XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) element, five LD (Low Dispersion) and two Hybrid Aspherical lens elements to control aberration. The new lens goes on sale in June. www.tamron.eu; £1,380/$1,399
