Its widest prime yet will be ideal for travel and astrophotography

Smaller and lighter than rival optics, the FE 14mm f/1.8 GM utilises 14 lens elements in 11 groups. Two XA lens elements will minimise astigmatism, coma, distortion and field curvature, while one ED and one Super ED element are there to suppress chromatic aberration. Sony is keen to highlight this lens’s control of ‘sagittal flare’, which is important for astrophotography, and says that a pair of high-thrust XD Linear motors will deliver fast, precise and quiet AF. www.sony.com; £1,400/$1,600
