Tips for macro magic
As macro lenses can reproduce images on the camera’s sensor at full life-size, they are ideal for creating studies of tree and shrub leaves. (See page 128 for our 10 best-buy macro lenses.) For sharp images free of camera shake, use a tripod. To freeze any wind moving your subject, enable higher shutter speeds by increasing your ISO setting. Shoot in Aperture Priority for quick fine-tuning of aperture settings. Autofocus systems can be thrown by dense layers of leaves, so use manual focus and check the results on your Live View screen.
