Digital Camera readers continue to show us how they’ve been getting creative

1 ‘Singing in the Wind’ by Alan Dean

“At Burton Mere, just as I was about to pack up, an elusive reed warbler popped up in the reeds and started singing.”

Digital Camera says: Classic use of the rule of thirds, leaving plenty of ‘looking space’ for the warbler to the right.

2 ‘After the Rain’ by Christine Cheesewright

“A dandelion ‘clock’ edited with various Photoshop filters.”

Digital Camera says: The natural blending of the background light complements the subject well.

3 ‘Earl of Harold Obelisk’ by Jakub Kopczyk

“This was taken on my Sony Alpha 7 III with a Zeiss 16-35mm f/4 lens set up on a tripod and fired with a remote trigger while I flew a drone with two LED lights around the tip of an obelisk. I edited it in Lightroom to bring out the shadow details and a few of the stars in the sky.”

Digital Camera says:

A technically well-balanced image, Jakub, with big dynamic differences in light and a bold composition.

4 ‘Lost In Thought’ by Craig Richardson

“A piece of street art in Plymouth with promising picture potential. I was lucky enough to see this gentleman in deep thought walking right in front of the artwork. Could this be life imitating art?”

Digital Camera says:

We love your choice of the ultra-wide crop, which gives this image a narrative and an almost movie- like aesthetic. The bold colours used by the street artist are accented by the pedestrian’s blue shirt.

5 ‘The House’ by Emanuel P A Ribeiro

“Taken in Langstone in Hampshire. I felt that the low clouds were only giving me the choice of a mono shot. I tried to create some fog on the horizon by removing the horizon line, which I feel has worked well.”

Digital Camera says: One of the best images we’ve had in our readers gallery – perfectly executed, with a beautiful edit.

6 ‘Unlock, Padlock’ by Amina Grigore

“This is the padlock on my shed. I love its vintage look. To enhance it, I added a bit of Vibrance during editing.”

Digital Camera says:

Textures are such a huge part of photography. The teal and orange hues complement each other perfectly.

7 ‘Bindi Blu’ by Kate Parmaku

“My friend’s British shorthair cat, photographed in natural light with my Canon EOS 1300D and a 50mm prime lens.”

Digital Camera says: A striking image, Kate. You could have played with some iris enhancement features in post-production, to bring out even more of the natural details in the eyes.

8 ‘Conkers’ by Patrick Blewitt

“One of my images of little people, inspired by some of the other submissions to appear in previous reader galleries. It was a tough nut to crack…”

Digital Camera says: Our miniatures-inspired series continues to go from strength to strength. There’s some fabulous creativity in evidence here, Patrick, in a superbly well-lit scene.

9 ‘Coffee Time’ by Joanna Gilbert

“On a wet miserable day, I decided that a bit of in-house photography was in order. Over a cup of joe, I got my inspiration. Who doesn’t like a macaroon or two – oh, go on then, three?”

Digital Camera says: The reflection elevates this image into a strong final piece, with a pleasing colour harmony.
