Backlight spider webs
The beauty of arachnid architecture is an amazing sight, but getting a well-defined shot requires the right lighting
Delicate spider webs are a must on the to-do list of any aspiring nature photographer. Although finding a good example is relatively easy, having the right conditions for a good shot is another matter. For the strands of the web to stand out, you generally need a coating of dew to thicken the shape and add extra glisten, and some medium-to-strong backlighting. These two elements often coincide on a cloudless, early morning, but with a garden spray and a portable light source, you can recreate the conditions at any time – even in your back yard on an overcast day.
