KIT TIPS COMMON FEATURES OF CAMERA DRONES
Explore the basic components you can expect when you buy a drone
1 The camera drone
As drones pack down for storage and transportation, they are very easy to unfold – see the instructions for your particular model. Before you start flying it, put the drone on a flat surface away from any obstructions. If you cannot find a flat surface, you can easily fly the drone from your hand.
2 The controller app
Drones like mine are usually controlled by a smartphone app that allows you to view the camera during flight. DJI’s app is called DJI Fly and is simple to use; with detailed guides on connecting your drone to the app, it also offers examples for where you can actually fly your drone.
3 Shooting modes
The control app will display the available shooting options to select from. The DJI Mini 2 offers Photo, Video, Quick Shot or Panoramic modes, and there are options for Single, Multiple and Timed shooting. The screen also displays images recorded to the card, so you can view previously captured content.
4 Auto and Pro exposure modes
While you learn how to fly the drone and move the camera, start off in Auto exposure mode. To be more experimental and have the ability to change individual settings, switch to Pro mode. For maximum flexibility, I would recommend keeping the ISO around 100 and adjusting the other settings around that.
