CREATIVE TIP ADD A BACKGROUND
While photographing my frozen flowers, I felt that the captures could sometimes look a little repetitive. To help the images ‘pop’ more, I decided to add a coloured background behind the ice. I lined a metal baking tray with sheets of paper in various colours, then rested the ice on top. I found that I needed a lot of paper for this step, as the paper would go soggy quite quickly. I felt that this step really helped the visual impact of the flowers, giving them a complementary colour to bounce off. The coloured background also highlighted more of the detail in the ice that formed in the frozen water.
