Three new zoom lenses from Tamron
More choice for users of Sony E-mount and Fujifilm X-mount mirrorless bodies
Leading third-party lens manufacturer Tamron released three new optics last month. And while the first two will please users of Sony Alpha mirrorless cameras, perhaps the biggest news is the brand’s first-ever Fujifilm-fit lens. Starting with the Sony glass, the new 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD is, says Tamron, the world’s first f/2 mirrorless zoom lens. (This does drop to f/2.8 at full zoom, but is nevertheless impressive.) Optical design includes four LD (low dispersion) and three GM (glass moulded aspherical) lens elements, with focus delivered via linear motor.
The 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2 is an updated version of Tamron’s existing 28-75mm f/2.8 lens for full-frame Sony E-mount cameras; it sports a new optical construction to enhance performance and match the resolution of the latest mirrorless cameras. The 18-300 mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD is the first-ever superzoom lens for Fujifilm X-mount cameras, with a whopping 16.6x zoom range. With an equivalent focal range of 27mm to 450mm in full-frame terms, the 18-300mm covers wide-angle to near super-telephoto magnification. A linear motor takes are of focusing, and Vibration Compensation is on board, too. www.tamron.eu; £1,599/$1,899 (35-150mm for Sony E); £849/$899 (28-75mm for Sony E); £679/$699 (18-300mm for Fujifilm X)
