Filter one into your equation for great landscape shots
Circular polarising filters are highly popular in landscape photography. They effectively produce inky-blue skies while enhancing clouds, as well as cutting reflections in watery surfaces and enriching depth and colour in landscape foliage.
Neutral-density graduated or ND grad filters are another favourite. These are typically rectangular filters, half-clear and half-grey-tinted, with a hard or soft border and available in different strengths. They enable a more balanced exposure when the sky is much brighter than the land beneath.
RIGHT: 10-stop ND filters such as Lee Filters’ Big Stopper are perennially popular, enabling long exposures even under bright daylight. They’re ideal for smoothing the choppy surface of water or blurring weirs and waterfalls.
