Everyday photos
Discover more about photography – and about yourself – through a 365 project, says Richard Hill
Taking on a 365 project has become a popular photographic rite of passage. As a challenge, it’s simple but not easy: you have to shoot and edit a photo daily, without missing out a day for an entire year. You can get going at any time, but New Year’s Day is an obvious starting point – and 1 January 2021 was when I began mine.
It took me a little while to find my feet, but I soon settled into a routine, using my smartphone so I could shoot whenever the opportunity arose. I’ve also had to find motivation when life got in the way, and I had to get that day’s image in the bag.
But I have learned a huge amount about framing and editing, and feel confident about starting a more ambitious photo project during 2022.
